Ms. Neema Mwanga, the registrar of NGOs, and her team from the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly, and Children, Dodoma, visited Elimu Mwangaza among the four organizations selected in Kilimanjaro. The main objective was to learn about the role of NGOs and their contribution to government efforts.
Being the first to host such a big visit, we were able to share and demonstrate our work. MMs.Neema Mwanga praised our professionalism and the good work we are doing to address child abuse, violence, and exploitation. We also shared our new project that will address adolescent girls’ challenges.
” I like how you develop evidence-based programs” said Ms.Neema Mwanga, the NGO registrar from the Ministry.
In her remarks, she added that, as financial resources are scarce, we should consider scaling up our programme to other areas to address issues of child abuse and strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms to protect the hard-to-reach communities.
Moreover, she reminded that NGOs should ensure that they comply with the NGOs Act and its regulations and code of conduct. Also, sending annual reports to the authorities and highlighting challenges will enable the government to address gaps in child protection systems and procedures.
