Reflection on Evidence-Based Programming to Prevent Violence Against Children in East Africa- Kisumu, Kenya
We have started our convening in Kisumu, Kenya to share the experience on approaches, tools, and methodologies we use to Prevent Violence Against Children. Elimu Mwangaza is among the organizations from Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda who have come together to learn and reflect together on our child-centered approach. This will include what we have tested at the ground through working with children and schools Moshi urban and Moshi rural, Kilimanjaro.
The child-centered approach will be shared by Michael Reuben Ntibikema, the Executive Directo for Elimu Mwangaza, Tanzania. Child-Centered Approach encourages children to take learning into their own hands, as opposed to being directed or prompted by an adult. Children take responsibility for making choices about what they will learn and explore.
The approach will cover the experience of engaging children and how we put them at the center of our interventions. More specifically, we will share what we are doing through children rights club, what are the achievements, lessons learned and challenges and how we engage schools and the government to work together to address violence against children.
The convening is organized by Impact and Innovative Development Centre (IIDC), an organization based in Uganda and Investing in Children and Society(ISC SP), Kenya.
We are excited to be part of this learning and reflection meetings in Kisumu,Kenya
